About

Nora Valhe

Nora Valhe draws on decades of music without ever seeking to belong to any particular era.

Born in Boston to a French-American family, she grew up listening to her father’s vinyl records and her mother’s French songs, immersed in a musical landscape that ranged from classic American soul to rock and pop. Sam Cooke, Aretha Franklin, Otis Redding, and Bill Withers were among her early influences, soon joined by Blondie, David Bowie, and Patti Smith.

In the 2000s, she discovered artists such as Amy Winehouse, Feist, Corinne Bailey Rae, Zero 7, Morcheeba, and The Cardigans. Her mother also introduced her to French music, specifically the work of Françoise Hardy, Véronique Sanson, Serge Gainsbourg, and Jacques Higelin.

She wrote her first song at the age of twelve. After studying art history and traveling extensively in Italy, she moved to New York in 2022. There, she performs, writes, experiments, and collaborates with other musicians, gradually shaping her own unique musical world.

“Music shaped by several generations, with a certain vintage warmth, without recreating a bygone era.”

In 2025, she decided to unite all her work under a single name: Nora Valhe.

Her music sits at the crossroads of pop-rock, alternative music, and soul. Her songs are often imbued with a sense of calm, melodic appeal, and a distinctive atmosphere, driven by guitars, an expressive voice, and a certain vintage warmth. While her influences span several decades, her songwriting remains personal and contemporary.

Italy, France, art, and literature continue to fuel her creative imagination. She plans to gradually incorporate more French into her compositions through bilingual tracks or songs written entirely in French.

Her debut album is currently in the works.
